Anthony Hospital General Surgery Residency Program is committed to assuring
excellence in osteopathic surgical education through training and self-directed
learning, patient care and advocacy, and leadership development. We seek to foster continuing personal growth
and professional relationships.
residency’s contribution to living the mission of Centura Health is realized
through serving patients with traumatic injuries both in the hospital's Level I
Trauma Center and in the clinic setting.
Hospital’s Shock Trauma Center treats patients from the Denver Metro area and
across Colorado with expert doctors and nurses, specially trained trauma teams,
advanced technology, a dedicated trauma operating room and a partnership with
EMS responders, providing the highest level of care.
Trauma Room 10
(T-10) at St. Anthony Hospital is Colorado’s first
dedicated trauma-operating suite that enables seriously injured patients to go
directly to surgery upon their arrival with EMS (including Flight For Life Colorado). The T-10 suite is fully equipped and
ready at all times to accept seriously injured trauma patients who may need
emergency surgery – including dedicated radiology, EKG, lab and other
services. The new high-speed dedicated
elevator provides even faster access.
Hospital is recognized internationally as an innovative leader in trauma system
development, emergency transport, intensivist teamwork, sub-specialty intensive
care unit operation and physician-through-paramedic education. Its service to Colorado, the Rocky Mountain
region and the world now spans nearly four decades, confirming its place among
the nation’s first sites for shock trauma care and creating a unique
environment for the resident program.
Our own trauma surgeons and in-house play a vital role in teaching and consulting with the residents. Additionally, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences
College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCU) COMEC provide ongoing direction
and support for the program.
