Conceptual
- Develop a conceptual model and theology for understanding how pastoral care and conversation fit into the broader scheme of pastoral functioning
- Introduce and practice pastoral conversation micro-skills
- Encourage the development of intensive empathic listening as a means for pastoral care
- Develop a conceptual model of trauma and an understanding of ministry to patients who experience trauma
Clinical/Experiential
- Orientation to St. Anthony Hospital and the Department of Education and Spiritual Care
- Immersion in the system and environment of clinical assignment
- Clinical /verbatim presentations with emphasis on pastoral conversation
Personal
- Exploration of personal history and group formation (interpersonal relations seminar)
- Unit retreat with focus on genograms
- Individual supervision
