    Specialized Cardiac Care Units

    Specialized cardiac care when you need it.

    St. Anthony Hospital has specialized cardiac care units all on the third floor of the hospital. Cardiac surgery, catheterization labs and cardiac care units on have ample capacity to serve a large number of patients, and by being centralized on the same floor, allow for easy transition from one unit to the next. Whether recovering from surgery or returning from the cardiac cath lab, the specialized care a patient requires is all there.

    All cardiovascular care units have use a collaborative care model with nurses, doctors, case managers, cardiac rehabilitation specialists, pharmacists, nutritionists and physical / occupational therapists to facilitate the best possible communication and provide excellent patient care.

    Specialized Cardiac Care Units Include:

    • A 24-bed combined Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Care Unit cares for acutely ill cardiac patients recovering from open-heart surgery, heart attack and any other cardiac condition that requires intense nursing care.
    • A telemetry unit provides cardiac care for patients are continuing to recover and do not require acute cardiac care. This is frequently the area patients and families receive instruction and education in preparation to return home.
    • A new nine-bed unit that provides specialized treatment for less than 24-hour stays for patients having elective cardiac cath procedures, vascular and interventional procedures, electrophysiology, Transesophageal echocardiography and bronchoscopies.
    • Each of our units offer flexible waiting hours and convenient waiting areas for family and loved ones.

    2015 Rescuscitation Gold AwardSt. Anthony Hospital has received the Get With The Guidelines®–Resuscitation Gold Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer in-hospital cardiac arrests in the hospital.

    More than 200,000 adults and children have an in-hospital cardiac arrest each year, according to the American Heart Association. The Get With The Guidelines-Resuscitation program was developed with the goal to save lives of those who experience in-hospital cardiac arrests through consistently following the most up-to-date research-based guidelines for treatment. Guidelines include following protocols for patient safety, medical emergency team response, effective and timely resuscitation (CPR) and post-resuscitation care.

    *The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association recognize this hospital for achieving 85% or higher adherence to all Get With The Guidelines®-Rescuscitation Achievement Measures for two or more consecutive years to improve quality of patient care and outcomes.

    2015 Action RegistrySt. Anthony Hospital has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry–GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2015. The award recognizes St. Anthony Hospital’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that we have reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.
    ChestPainCenter.gifThe Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC), an international not-for-profit organization that focuses on transforming cardiovascular care, has awarded the hospital its Chest Pain Center Accreditation. The award followed a rigorous evaluation of the hospital's cardiac care outcomes, processes, collaboration with prehospital providers and its and ability to provide 24/7 interventions. By becoming an Accredited Chest Pain Center, St. Anthony Hospital has enhanced the quality of care for the acute coronary syndrome (ACS patient) and has demonstrated its commitment to higher standards.
    HeartAttackReceivingCenter_250.gifThe American Heart Association has awarded St. Anthony Hospital its Mission: Lifeline® Heart Attack Receiving Center Accreditation. The accreditation program recognizes centers that meet or exceed quality of care measures for people experiencing the most severe type of heart attack, ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), in which blood flow is completely blocked to a portion of the heart. The recognition followed stringent on-site reviews by accreditation specialists from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care.

    American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline® Gold Plus Recognition Award recognition. In a cardiac emergency, the right treatment at the right time can be a matter of life and death. That's why St. Anthony Hospital is proud to be recognized for our performance in Mission: Lifeline®, an American Heart Association program that helps ensure prompt emergency cardiac treatment based on the latest scientific guidelines. This outstanding accomplishment recognizes St. Anthony Hospital's efforts to consistently meet the highest standards for diagnosis and treatment of STEMI heart attack care.

    *The American Heart Association recognizes St. Anthony Hospital for achieving 85% or higher composite adherence to all Mission: Lifeline® STEMI Receiving Center Performance Achievement indicators for consecutive 12-month intervals and 75% or higher compliance on all Mission: Lifeline STEMI Receiving Center quality measures to improve the quality of care for STEMI patients.

    Get With The Guidelines Heart Failure 2016The Get With The Guidelines®-Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award signifies that St. Anthony Hospital has reached an exceptional goal of treating heart failure patients according to the guidelines of care recommended by the AHA/American College of Cardiology.

    Evidence confirms that the quick and efficient use of guideline procedures can improve the quality of care for heart failure patients, save lives and ultimately, reduce health care costs by lowering the recurrence of heart attacks.

    The American Heart Association recognizes this hospital for achieving 85% or higher composite adherence to all Get With The Guidelines®-Heart Failure Achievement Measures and 75% or higher compliance with four or more Get With The Guidelines®-Heart Failure Quality Measures for two or more consecutive years to improve the quality of patient care and outcomes.
