• School Accreditation

  • St. Anthony Hospital School of Radiologic Science is fully accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT,) under the United States Department of Education (USDE.)  Current accreditation certificates are on display in the program office.  A copy of the standards for an accredited educational program for the radiographer is available for review in the Radiography Program Director's Office.

    The JRCERT recognizes only those programs that meet the educational and clinical guidelines set forth by this organization.  The JRCERT promotes excellence in education and enhances quality and safety of patient care through the accreditation of educational programs.  The JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the United States Department of Education for the accreditation of traditional and distance delivery educational programs in Radiography, Radiation Therapy, Magnetic Resonance, and Medical Dosimetry.

    Programs accredited by the JRCERT must demonstrate that they are in substantial compliance with the relevant JRCERT accreditation standards:  Standards for an Accredited Educational Program in Radiologic Sciences (Radiography and Radiation Therapy,) Standards for an Accredited Educational Program in Magnetic Resonance, or Standards for an Accredited Educational Program in Medical Dosimetry.

    The JRCERT welcomes third party comments regarding our accredited programs.  Comments regarding accreditation review should be submitted to the JRCERT Chief Executive Officer.

    Accreditation of an educational program offers value to each of the following groups:

    1. Students:  Accreditation of an educational program provides students, as graduates, assurance that the educational program will provide them with the requisite knowledge, skills, and values to competently perform the range of professional responsibilities expected by potential employers' nationwide.  It also assures they will be eligible for licensure in each of the 50 states.  By requiring programs to teach the entire curriculum developed by professional societies, both the American Society of Radiologic Technology (ASRT) and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), accreditation also assures students they will have the foundation knowledge to continue to develop as professionals in the various fields of the radiation sciences.
    2. Patients:  Accreditation of educational programs assures patients that students who perform procedures have appropriate supervision during the educational process.  It also assures them that graduates will have met the minimum level of competency as defined nationally by the profession.
    3. Educators:  Through the process of programmatic accreditation, educators are assured that their educational programs are keeping pace with the profession and with standards developed through national consensus.
    4. Profession:  The profession is assured, through programmatic accreditation, that educational programs in the field are providing consistent minimum education in the profession as the profession itself has defined it.

    Should a student feel that St. Anthony Hospital - School of Radiologic Science is not meeting the standards set forth by the JRCERT, they may feel free to contact them.
