  • Mission

    St. Anthony Hospital School of Radiologic Science is committed to excellence in education demonstrated by:  providing a comprehensive education program to students through a collaborative effort between instructors, imaging staff, and physicians.  The program supports the core values and mission statement of Centura Health by being the premier imaging resource for both our internal and external community.

    Goal:  Radiography students will demonstrate clinical competence

    Student Learning Outcomes:

    1. Students will apply proper positioning skills
    2. Students will select appropriate technical factors for digital imaging
    3. Students will practice/apply appropriate radiation safety and protection according to the principle of ALARA (as low as reasonably acceptable)

    Goal:  Radiography students will demonstrate effective communication skills

    Student Learning Outcomes:

    1. Students will demonstrate effective verbal communication skills with patients, their families, and peers
    2. Students will demonstrate effective written communication skills with patients, their families, and peers

    Goal:  Radiography students will demonstrate critical thinking skills

    Student Learning Outcomes:

    1. Students will demonstrate logical exam sequencing for patients with multiple exams
    2. Students will demonstrate ingenuity and creative use of exam resources in all areas of image acquisition, including trauma and mobile radiography
    3. Students will demonstrate skill in image evaluation and critique for quality

    Goal:  Radiography students will exhibit professionalism

    Student Learning Outcomes:

    1. Students will utilize professional judgment in delivering patient care
    2. Students will be professional and respectful towards their peers
    3. Students will recognize the importance of professional growth and development

    School Accreditation Information:

    St. Anthony Hospital School of Radiologic Science is fully accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT,) under the United States Department of Education (USDE.)  The Program has a full 8-year accreditation with the next review date in May 2014.  Current accreditation certificates are on display in the program office.  A copy of the standards for an accredited educational program for the radiographer is available for review in the Radiography Program Director's Office or on the JRCERT website.  Program effectiveness data for the program is available on the JRCERT and St. Anthony Hospital School of Radiologic Science websites
